12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Evan continues to work hard at his game. At the plate, he likes the ball middle-in and pulls the ball down the line. He squares the ball up consistently and drives it on a line. Letting the ball travel will help improve his ability to use the whole field. At 3B, Weaver fields the ball cleanly with soft hands and makes the plays. He has a quick exchange and quick release, getting the ball across the diamond. On the mound, Evan continues to progress. FB tops out at 78 mph coming from a 3/4 arm angle. He has a repeatable delivery and works in-line toward the dish. He shows good all-around mechanics and has an upside on the bump. Evan is only a sophomore and has a lot of potential on the diamond.

12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Evan continues to show strong abilities in his game. On the mound, he maintains good balance throughout his delivery and gets good glove side lead. Both FB and CB are both thrown for strikes as he attacks hitters. Defensively at 3B, Evan shows active footwork, working to get around the groundball. He gives good feeds on the DP and makes accurate throws across the diamond. As a hitter, Weaver swings on a good bat path and shows some pop off of his barrel. He puts pressure on the defense by consistently putting the ball in play. He gets his lower 1/2 through and is a contact type hitter. Evan is a good, young player who listens well and has potential as he matures.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition in Arizona Weaver continues to show as a 3B/RHP but currently projects best at 3B for the next level. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and presents soft / clean hands well out front. He needs to attack ground balls to play through and continue to improve grade. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity on the mound but will benefit by build more arm strength through a long toss program. Breaking ball displayed 11/5 shape with gradual break. At the plate, Evan shows loose hands that work well through a level swing path. He needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time and continue to improve hitting grade. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

08/07/2012 - Interactive Video Program - San Diego, CA Evan is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Evan has firm hands, playable feet, and he uses 2 hands. He fields out in front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action to his target. On the hill, Evan has a long arm action, he gets good extension on his pitches, and he works in good rhythm. He has good direction toward home, and he lands in a square position. At the plate, Evan has an athletic set-up, good balance, and a simple stroke. He makes hard contact, he hits line drives, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through ball
2. Play lower
3. Long toss
Pitching
1. Loosen actions
2. Finish
Offense
1. Let ball travel more
2. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
