12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ezra is an athletic built SS/RHP prospect who has a talented skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Ezra has an athletic, relaxed setup with a firm front side. He has controlled rhythm with an activated load and soft stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has a line drive approach and can drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Ezra has an athletic ready position and moves with a quick first step. He works behind the baseball and presents his glove as he fields it in an athletic position. Ezra has a clean exchange and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing accurate throws. On the mound, Ezra has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. 09/23/2018 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Ezra is an athletic SS/RHP who has a very bright future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable, allowing his arm action to work loose and quick to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 80-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with late arm side run / sink. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, Ezra has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
