08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Ferris is a very coachable player who continues to make great strides in his game. He has a high baseball IQ and is always thinking one play ahead. In the OF, he shows quick footwork as he hustles to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He works into position behind the ball, secures it and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, Ferris shows a balanced approach with rhythm in his hands. He has the ability to take the pitch on the outer 1/3 and drive it the other way. He hustles out of the box and down the line, putting pressure on the defense. Jumping on more 1st pitch fastballs with more aggressiveness early in the count, will lead to even more productive at-bats. Only a 2018 grad - Al-Hamar has the hard working mentality to continue to make little improvements every day. He still has a lot of time to develop his skills and get stronger.

07/11/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Ferris worked out primarily in the OF during his time at the Cape Cod Select Training and Competition. Defensively, he worked a good first step to initiate his routes to the baseball and became more confident and sure with the glove during the week. He worked behind and through the baseball and worked to drive more with his lower half to boost arm strength and carry. Offensively, he was direct with his path and was more consistent getting his hands activated to hit, then we had previously seen. He gave phenomenal effort every day, brought great energy to the ball park and has maturity beyond his years. All in all - Ferris should continue focusing on becoming a stronger/quicker/faster athlete to enhance his playability.

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Ferris continues to work hard on his game. He is very coachable and is willing to make adjustments to his game. He lowered his 60 time - now running a 7.66. Offensively, this RHH shows a balanced setup with a solid base. He has a middle of the field approach with a short/compact swing. Engaging and driving more of his lower 1/2 will help to generate more pop off of the bat. In the OF, Ferris has active footwork and is aggressive to track down fly-balls to his right and left. He is sure handed, has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. Continuing to develop more arm strength will aid in his progression as an outfielder. Ferris brings energy to the field every day and shows his love for the game. Only a 2018 grad - he still has a ton of time to develop his skills.

04/06/2015 - College PREP - Dubai, UAE Ferris is a young OF prospect with good athleticism and consistent tools. Defensively, he worked behind the baseball taking a good first step and was controlled with his body to generate momentum to throw. He had a sure glove and a live/accurate arm to throw. Getting more reps on a weekly basis and fine-tuning his footwork on balls over is head will boost play. Offensively, he sprayed the ball to all fields with good balance throughout his swing. He was direct with his path and coordinated with his hands & hips to generate bat whip. Rhythm drills, and a more relaxed upper half will help to increase fluidity and hit ability. All in all - Ferris has a great personality and is a definite follow with good athleticism, feel, and ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
