12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Francis is a 6'/185 lbs prospect that showed consistent ability on both sides of the baseball at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Defensively in the OF, he showed good range, working efficiently to the baseball with his routes, and controlling his body to get into position to field. His glove was sure and he used his feet to throw after catch with a good arm stroke and present carry. Continued work to get behind the baseball and through to throw more aggressively with lower-half momentum will boost play ability. Offensively, he took very aggressive hacks and was always looking to be an offensive threat. He rotated his core well to boost his bat speed and worked in cage sessions on being more 'on-time' to hit. In all - Francis has a great baseball frame and has very good aptitude, two key ingredients to projection and growth.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Francis is an athletic OF that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls through an aggressive approach. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls while playing through with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. In the IF, feet active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, and carry on his throws. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 85 mph at the arm strength station. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. Francis has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
