Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/CPosition Projection

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Francisco is a RHP/C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Francisco gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Francisco shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 68-69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Knuckle ball sits from 61-63mph with good dancing movement. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Francisco improve as a pitcher. Behind the plate, Francisco shows active footwork and moves well to his glove side when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives well. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a wider stance can help Francisco improve as a C. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows smooth rhythm and takes a short swing, leading to solid gap to gap pop. Working more of a load into his swing can help Francisco improve as a hitter. Overall, Francisco is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

03/11/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Francisco is a lean C/RHP who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.35 range with accuracy on his throws. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he displays an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, flashing sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Francisco has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
