08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Sabido continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid 7.33 runner, which is great for a player of his size (6'5) and age. As an outfielder, he takes good angles, and catches the ball with 2 hands. His arm action is loose and his throws show some carry and accuracy. He has soft hands and playable footwork, but he can work on having a quicker first step, and continuing to play through the ball with more momentum. He plays very hard and shows great effort and hustle in the games. At the plate, Freddy showed improvement in both his hitting mechanics and power since we last saw him. He shows a balanced setup with rhythm and a level stroke. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He utilizes all fields well and his barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He can work on staying shorter with his swing, and keeping his hands back as he sometimes gets out front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date. Mechanically he has a controlled balance point and level shoulders. Fastball showed arm side run and breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed shows as a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level. He had a good outing during his game, showing the ability to consistently throw strikes. He also picked a guy off during the game. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and as he works to polish up his mechanics. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.
