10/28/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Gabe has solid all-around tools making him a quality prospect at the catching position. He has a strong, physical frame (6'0"/200) that appears durable enough to handle the tough workload behind the plate. He threw to 2B in 1.93 with carry to his accurate throws. The exchange, release and feet are all clean. Gabe sits well behind the plate and catches pitches with strong, sure hands, and he is sound on balls in the dirt. At the plate, Gabe has a simple, repeatable RH stroke that resulted in a loud batting practice round. He is short and quick to the ball with an excellent, coordinated move through contact into his finish. This is a desirable prospect - a run producing bat on a prospect that can stay behind the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
