12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Gabe continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.00. He gets rid of the baseball through a quick transfer / exchange with accuracy and carry on his throws. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting grades have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 2B and 3 BB as he shows a strong recognition of the strike zone. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

10/13/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Romeoville (Chicago), IL Gabe is an athletic C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Gabe shows active footwork and gains ground when blocking. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and takes a level swing, leading to solid contact. Overall, Gabe is a solid prospect who should find success going into his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
