03/20/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - NJ (HS) Gabriel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. He did show at 2B for the first time at the event. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Gabriel continues to show improvements on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy/carry (89 mph raw velocity) on his throws. Offensively, hitting abilities are now well above average with solid power potential through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-81 mph with sink. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break.

11/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manalapan, NJ Gabriel is a C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.20 range with accuracy/carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball ranges from 78-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Split finger shows good downward, tumbling action. With 2 years to further develop, Gabriel has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
