Official Scouting Report

  • OF/CPosition Projection

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Gabriel is an OF/C prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season Prospects Tournament. Behind the plate, Gabriel sits in an athletic stance and tracks the ball into his glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, working to make accurate throws to the 2B bag. He tucks his chin when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and hits against a strong front side. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and drives the ball to his pull side. Overall, Gabriel is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Gabriel is an athletic and lean 2021 catching prospect that battled through a shoulder injury throughout the week. Behind the dish, Gabriel has a quiet primary stance and tries to work behind the ball. He needs to track the ball into his glove and minimize post pitch manipulation. When throwing, he replaces his feet. Continuing to gain ground will improve his direction and accuracy. When blocking, Gabriel needs to focus on anticipating balls in the dirt, lead with his glove, and keep a “nothing gets by me mentality”. At the plate, Gabriel starts in a squared stance and looks to make contact to the pull side. He activates his hands back and gets to balance at contact. Gabriel was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
