10/08/2023 - National Showcase - Nashville, TN Gabriel continues to show as a top prospect with improvements with his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.67 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent skills as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents more out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with online carry (91 mph exit velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Fastball showed a range of 82-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He will throw from a low ¾ arm slot with all pitches. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Gabriel has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Gabriel is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame with some strength present and plenty of room to develop. At SS, efficient feet and ability to move lateral. Good rhythm to actions with good fielding angles. Works into a low/square fielding position with some feel for glove pocket. Short arm action into a high 3/4 arm slot with a recorded an arm velocity of 87mph. A switch hitter who hits from a even stance. Showed an aggressive approach at the plate and ability to make hard contact. In live game action, he reached base 5 times and showed pull side pop with a bat exit velocity of 85mph. On the mound, he works with good tempo and shows clean mechanics. Fastball was his best pitch up to 78 MPH. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

10/17/2021 - All-In Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Gabriel is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add strength throughout. He ran his 60-yard dash in 6.97 seconds. In the infield, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and has active/efficient footwork. Works from right to left as he centers baseball and fields from an athletic/square fielding position with hands out front. Creates momentum to his target, with a quick/clean transfer, and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Made accurate and on-line throws, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 88mph. A switch hitter, from the right side he hits from an upright and open stance. Center balance at contact point, with a flat barrel path, and ability to get extended out front. Hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. From the left side, he starts with an athletic and open stance. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Good balance at contact with a flat barrel through the hitting zone. He hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph during BP. On the mound, has good tempo to his delivery and works downhill. He picks up his target early and keeps his frontside closed. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 78-81mph with some tailing action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with some depth through the strike zone, and a changeup with some sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
