06/09/2013 - College PREP - North Las Vegas, NV Gabriel is a tall, solidly built two-way player (3B/RHP) with a projectable pitchers body and will graduate in 2016. In the field Gabriel has good range and is solid to his glove side. Gabriel could improve his balance on his throws (getting his feet set) and being more fluid in the field. A throwing mechanics and long toss program would help with his arm strength and lengthening out his arm. On the mound Gabriel throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a controlled and repeated delivery and throws a lot of strikes. His fastball has some run down in the zone and he throws his change-up with good arm speed but the velocity is too close to his fastball. Gabriel could improve his tempo, extension and finish to his pitches. At the plate Gabriel is athletic in his stance and has line-drive/pull power. He gets good extension and leverage with late explosion in his swing. Gabriel could loosen his grip and get shorter on his bat path to add even more consistent power. With continued work Gabriel has the body and athletic potential to improve a lot in the near future and being a 2016 grad he has time to make those improvements.
