11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Gage is a L/L 1B and LHP, who showed coachabilty along with a great passion and curiosity for the game in his time at Pirate City. Defensively, he showed solid footwork around the bag at first, as he got into a good position to field or cover the bag on throws. Hands were soft to field, exchanges to throw were clean and his accuracy on throws was a big plus. Offensively, he showed a good hitting setup, as his hands were loaded on time and his stride was kept short/direct. He showed the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields, as he kept his bat on a direct path and was accurate with his barrel. On the mound, he showed good rhythm and tempo. Balance point was strong, as he did a great job of keeping his head still and on line to the target and finishing with good balance. He featured a mid 60's fastball with cutting action, along with a high 50's curveball which broke on a 1-7 (from batter's eye) plane. Only a 2020 graduate, Gage shows great upside in this game, and with continued hard work will have a very bright future ahead of him.
