Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Gage is a 2B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season Prospects Tournament. In the field, Gage shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. His exchange is clean and he makes strong/accurate throws through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and works through a level swing. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and produces strong line drives. On the mound, Gage gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Gage shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 68mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Gage is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/26/2020 - College PREP - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Gage continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line (84 mph velocity) carry across the diamond. At the plate, hitting/ power potential has improved through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with good depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action and shows a solid feel for the pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Gage.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Gage continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in working to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 3B and 2 RBI. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Gage is a young, athletic OF/2B with a high baseball IQ. In the outfield, Gage continues to show energy with his fluid feet that allow him to cover ground to make plays. He presents his glove out front of his body and makes clean exchanges into a long arm action (high 3/4 arm slot). Throws are accurate as he uses his body's momentum to throw the ball on a line. Raw velocity has improved since past events, jumping from 62mph to 67mph. At the plate, Gage shows a line drive type approach. He displays an athletic, open setup with a short stride and a good load. Rhythm is fluid as he keeps his balance center and a lower half that stays through throughout his swing. He shows a loose, clean, direct swing path as his hands stay inside the ball and makes consistently hard contact. Exit velocity has improved since past events jumping from 57mph to 68mph.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
