07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Gage is an athletic and talented 2024 catching prospect that plays the game hard. Behind the dish he presents a low/early target, he works behind the ball, and has strong hands. When throwing he replaces his feet but he can improve arm strength and accuracy by gaining ground. He tucks his chin when blocking and gets his body in front of the ball. At the plate, Gage hunts the fastball early in counts and looks to drive the ball through the middle part of the field. He starts in a crouched stance, gets his hands inside the ball, and keeps the barrel flat through the zone. He's a bad ball hitter and went 6 for 6 with 6 singles and an RBI on the week. Gage will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/14/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Gage is a strong catcher with broad shoulders. Defensively, Gage has quick feet, he sits in athletically, and his hands are firm. He tracks well, blocks softly, and has a clean exchange with momentum and consistency to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.55 seconds. Offensively, Gage is a strong hitter with a square set-up, good balance and a direct barrel. He swings a level bat, makes square contact, and he uses some lower body. Abilities can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
