Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/08/2013 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Gage is a big, tall, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. At the plate, Gage has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he uses all fields. He has a good swing path, and gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can spike if Gage can improve his timing, develop a load, and use more lower 1/2. Defensively, Gage makes plays, his glove is clean, and he fields in a square position. He flashes a good backhand, his exchange is quick, and he throws with average strength to his target. Lighter feet and added arm strength will help defense improve. On the mound, Gage has a good arm action, a controlled balance point, and level shoulders. He repeats his delivery, keeps his head on target, and he finishes in a complete position. Added arm strength and improved off-speed will improve mound effectiveness.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
