01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Gage is a solid, muscular SS/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects slightly better on the mound for the next level but has potential at SS as well. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his outstanding arm action to work free and quick to the plate. Arm strength is outstanding as he topped out at 84 mph with fastball showing a range of 81-84 mph. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch that will get outs at the next level, displaying 10/4 shape with sharp break and late depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Command / control are well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At SS, foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.21 60 time. He utilizes his athletic feet well in attacking balls and playing through well. Hands are soft / cure but needs to present more out front to continuing to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level / direct swing path. He shows good barrel accuracy and extension through with baseball jumping of bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 7. With 2 to further develop, Gage has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.
