He gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He shows a good rhythm and barrels up the ball well. Overall, Gage is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.
05/25/2019 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT
Gage is a wiry, athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.89. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (80 mph velocity) on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. Gage has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.
