Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

08/02/2021 - All-In Membership - York, PA Gage is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. He continues to impress every time we see him. Medium frame, well pro-portioned, athletic build and room to add more strength. Ran a 6.77 60-yard dash. In the OF, starts with quick/active feet, with agile actions, and ability to cover ground. Athletic fielding position, with soft hands, and a quick/clean transfer. Accurate/on-line throws, with good momentum towards target, and an arm velocity of 86mph into infield. A right-handed pitcher who has a quick arm and good leg drive. Separates on time and showed ability to command his pitches. Works off of a FB that sat 76-78mph with some sink and ability to keep his fingers on top of the baseball. Flashed a 12/6 shaped breaking ball with good bite through the zone and a developing slider. CB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, this right-handed hitter sets up with an even and athletic stance. Solid base and athletic setup and he swings with intent. Showed a fast bat and ability to hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 79mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

03/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ Gage is a 2023 RHP/OF. Medium frame athletic build with some present strength on his frame and plenty of room to add. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Good rhythm and tempo to his delivery with the ability to repeat it. Clean arm action in the back to a high ¾ arm slot coming forward. 3 pitch pitcher who has ability to command all three. FB has some late life through the zone. Mixes in a 10/4 breaking ball and a developing changeup with some late movement. Secondary outfielder with athleticism and fluidity to his actions. Aggressive to the ball and fields it low and square. Works behind and through the ball with a high 1 hand catch. Clean transfer to a high 3/4 arm slot, releases out in front with solid arm strength, up to 84mph from the outfield. Right-handed hitter, sets up with an upright and square stance at the plate. Loads into his back hip with a high leg kick trigger. Shows present whip to his barrel through the hitting zone as he extends out front. Line drive contact and a bat exit velocity of 83mph. Three years of continued growth and development will bode well for his career at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
