Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Gannon is a solid athlete that is a 2-way prospect with a high baseball IQ. In the OF, Gannon is on time with his prep step, he starts in athletic stance, and has good instincts to the ball. He’s aggressive to the ball, he plays through ground balls, and works behind fly balls. At the plate, Gannon starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, has good rhythm. He attacks the inside part of the ball, he rotates his backside, and he looks to drive the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Gannon works over the rubber, he works down hill, and has a controlled landing. He pounds the strike zone with his fastball and has a medium break with his curveball. Gannon will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/24/2019 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Gannon is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Gannon shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry through his target. Taking a better first step can help Gannon improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Gannon can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Gannon gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Gannon shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 69-70mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 73-74mph with sinking action. Getting more extension on his changeup can help Gannon improve as a pitcher. Overall, Gannon is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
