Official Scouting Report

  • 3Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

10/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Gannon is a tall 2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Gannon shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making on-line throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an open setup. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, driving the ball from gap to gap with authority. Overall, Gannon is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program an athletically built versatile defender who profiles on the dirt to stick at 2b or move over to 3b where his bat can handle both spots and enough athleticism to move to the corners in the OF and provide impact at the plate. His carrying tool is an advanced RH stroke which he has shown current performance, but with projection to continue to improve there is a potential for an above average to plus hit tool based on his feel for the barrel, his approach, bat speed and balance in his swing. He turns on FB and shows the ability to get the ball in the air to pull side and the athleticism and balance to keep his hands back and use the middle of the field to opposite field. The frame and body show room to continue to add strength to profile as a middle of the order impact hitter who can hit for average while providing average to above average power production with pull side HR power and middle of the diamond doubles power. It’s an advanced offensive approach combined with defensive versatility, athleticism, and projection as potential recruit option.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Gannon is a young, athletic 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2024. Defensively, Gannon plays with high energy, hands and feet play well, and he makes plays consistently. He centers well, flashes a good backhand, and throws with a long arm action across the diamond. Gannon can improve defensively by fielding further out in front of his body and with a quicker release. At the plate, Gannon has an open stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a level swing, a direct barrel, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. More live hands and added physical strength will help spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
