Exclusive College Recruiting Program Garin is a 2023 potential 2 way prospect who shows potential on both sides of the game. A HS shortstop who will fit better at 3b at the next level he has good feet and soft hands with the range and arm strength to handle 3b or a move to 1b with ease. At the plate he has a quiet LH set up and load that allows him to get into hitting position consistently and on time to allow his strength to play in his swing where he gets exit velocities routinely in the 90-95 MPH range with room to add more. He shows a feel for the barrel and a good approach to be an impactful bat. On the mound he has an easy delivery that doesn’t require a lot of effort to get to a low 80 MPH FB which he commands well and has room to add velo and with control of a 3 pitch mix there is definitely potential for him on the mound. He has an overall diverse skill set that will make him an intriguing college prospect as a 2-way, position player or pitcher only at next level.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Garin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around the ball and plays through with his body. Hands are soft and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/19/2020 - Winter Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS - Dec) Garin in a physical (6’2 215 lb) two-way SS/RHP who shines on the diamond. At SS, he starts in an athletic position with active prep. He uses efficient footwork and a great first step allowing him to cover ground laterally. He fields the ball out in front of his body, using a clean exchange where he is able to release the ball quickly. Garin displayed a smooth arm action and throws the ball accurately (81 mph arm velo). He continued to shine at the plate. He starts in a square setup showing fluid rhythm in the box. Fast hands allow him to produce hard contact with gap-to-gap power. He also showed well on the mound. He has an aggressive mentality with the ability to get ahead of hitters. FB was 71-74 with good movement, CB had sharp break with 11-5 shape, and CH was deceptive with run. More efficient use of lower half will help unlock full potential on the mound. Overall, Garin is a solid all-around player who has a ton of upside and can make an impact at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
