10/18/2023 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic Garret continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Arizona Easton Fall Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/12/2023 - National Showcase - Orange County, CA Garret continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/02/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Garrett is a talented and athletic 2B/RHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he is agile and squares his body to the baseball. He has pocket feel and his transfers are smooth. Arm action is short and quick and produces accurate and on-line feeds. Working to stay under the ball in his fielding position will allow his glove more freedom to make hops adjustments. On the mound, he controls his body well. He demonstrates the ability to repeat his mechanics with solid arm speed and locates his off-speed with frequency. His FB topped at 68 with slight tailing actions. Has a good feel for his CB which sat 58 and 12-6 shape. Trust his CH (61-4) and throws it with conviction. At the plate, he shows loose hands and a solid barrel path. He is on-time with the pitch and has a smooth feel. Gains extension with a fluid finish. Working to stay inside his feet with allow him not to cheat to the pitch and let it travel for full field production. Overall, Garrett is a solid two-way player with a bright future.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Garret is a RHP/2B that graduates high school in the class of 2025 who showcased his abilities in the Baseball Factory Select Training and Competition. At 2B, he showed athletic fielding position with effective footwork. Had good range to his back hand while working from the ground up. He kept his hands out in front and eyes behind his glove while fielding the ball. He threw from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action and lots of carry on his throws. On the mound, he threw a fastball that sat 64-65mph that he was consistently able to throw for a strike. He had a curveball with 11/5 movement and gradual break. In 3 innings of work Garret had 7 strikeouts while allowing just 1 hit and no runs. The right-handed hitter had a square/athletic stance and a low hand slot. Short activated load that was on time. Swing was on plane with quick hands and produced consistent contact. In the live game he reached base once with a walk and had an RBI. With 3 years left to develop before graduation, we expect Garret to make huge strides on the baseball field.

07/28/2021 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Garret is an athletic 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he displays solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 60-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, Garret has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
