ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

01/14/2011 - Under Armour Preseason All-America - 2011 Anderson showed good mound presence and athleticism during his innings at the Pre-Season All-America. He has a compact delivery, a strong arm, and solid off-speed pitches. Garrett has good balance, competes in the zone, and pitches to contact. More extension will only help improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Garrett has an aggressive swing, good bat speed, and makes solid contact. He projects as a Pitcher only at the next level. With continued work, Garrett will get looks from colleges in need of a solid LHP.

10/20/2010 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2010 Garrett is a tall, LHP who showed very well on the mound at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. Touching 88 a couple of times, he displayed 2 above average offspeed pitches and a clean arm stroke. Has some recoil to his finish and tends to throw against his front side which hurts his direction. But in general, his delivery works and he repeats it. Showed an ok feel with the glove and bat as well. 3 for 7 with a double on the weekend, and he has some batspeed and a solid approach. Can be more aggressive offensively. Accurate arm in the outfield and reads and jumps were good. Garrett has a chance to be a very good college arm and needs to continue to polish his delivery and get stronger

09/26/2010 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Garrett is a young, thin, 2-way player that hits from the left side. He currently projects best on the mound as he enters his Junior year. On the hill, Garrett has a FB clocked at 82 MPH, which he delivers on a downhill plane. He has an athletic delivery, a proper load, and good arm speed. Garrett is an aggressive Pitcher that mostly competes in the zone. Mound effectiveness can further improve if he can improve his off-speed pitches, loosen his front leg, and involve more lower 1/2. In the OF, Garrett has a tall, lean body and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He attacks ground balls aggressively, he squares his body to his target, and throws with carry and accuracy. Defensive grades can further improve if Garrett can take better angles and routes to the ball. At the plate, Garrett has average balance and good bat speed. He has a proper load, direct hands to the ball, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. If Garrett can keep his head on the ball, and level off his swing, we could see a quick spike in offensive numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
