09/12/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Garrett continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Garrett continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time, now a 6.90 runner. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry (85 raw velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact (86 mph exit velocity) and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball was 80-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on the pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Garrett is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. At SS, Garrett fields the ball in front of his body, funnels it into his glove, and makes accurate throws. He has a strong arm and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Garrett starts in an open stance and keeps his hands in a low, attack, position. In game, Garrett has a middle approach and went 2-6. He gets his front foot down on time, gets the barrel flat to the ball, and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Garrett commands his fastball and isn't afraid to pitch inside. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and does a tremendous job of riding his back leg toward the plate. He has a strong glove side and works north to south in his delivery. Garrett will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Garrett is an athletic and strong RHP/OF prospect. Garrett has a good foundation and made several adjustments over the weekend at Pirate City. In the OF, Garrett has active pre pitch movement and gets into a good fielding position. He is aggressive to the to the ball and makes accurate throws. Working behind the ball and following through on his throws will allow him to further his skills at the position. At the plate, Garrett has an athletic stance and simple swing. He was consistently on time and showed good bat speed. Continuing to use the lower half and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to stay on plane and get extension through contact. On the bump, Garrett stays balanced over the rubber and separates on time. His loose arm allows him to create movement on the ball. He consistently finishes over the front side and works the bottom half of the zone. Developing his secondary pitches will take him to the next level. Garrett will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/18/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Highland Park (DFW), TX Garrett is an OF who will graduate in 2022. Defensively in the OF, he takes active routes/angles as he tracks down fly balls. He works around, fields GB's athletically and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH displays a square setup with smooth rhythm to load. He rips his lower 1/2, swings on a direct bat path through the zone and consistently drives the ball with hard contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicker 1st step
2. Less steps before throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Stay balanced
2. Extend more through contact
3. Stay inside

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
