07/10/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Garrett is a 2023 catcher out of Tomball, TX who worked hard on his skills during the Cape Cod Training and Competition. Behind the dish, Garrett has an easy sit and tracks ball to mitt with soft hands while working his thumb under ball. He does a good job of replacing his feet and works with good direction towards second base. Has a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 77mph and a best pop time of 2.15 seconds. Creates good blocking angles and has a good spine angle on his blocks with his chin tucked. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance with high hands. Showed good rhythm to swing with a square glide step and good hand/eye coordination. A short/compact swing enables him to hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 73mph during BP. During the event, he showed good barrel control and proved to be a tough out. Garrett got on the mound and topped out at 75mph with his fastball that had some run to it. He also threw a breaking ball that ranged from 58-63mph with sharp break. With another year growth and development, we foresee Garrett having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

01/09/2022 - All-In Membership - Houston, TX Garrett is a C/SS who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. At C, has an easy sit in his primary stance, with active feet, and he works around the baseball. He gains ground to second base as he replaces his feet. Tries to work thumb under baseball while keeping balls in the strike zone. Has an athletic/square secondary stance with good base and athletic actions. He throws from a 3/4 release point with an arm velocity up to 79mph and a best pop time of 2.15 seconds. Has a quick collapse and creates good blocking angles and uses his chest to deaden ball and keep it in front of him. In the infield, he starts with a good prep step as he works to center the baseball and closes the distance on batted balls. He fields from a square fielding position, with ability to pick out hops, and has a good glove presentation. Made accurate and on-line throws to first base with good momentum towards target. Showed good touch on his flip and follow. A switch hitter, from the right side he hits from a tall and open stance. Has quick hands with a middle of the field approach. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. From the left side, he hits from an upright and open stance. Has a high finish as he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
