Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/13/2021 - Baseball Factory Summer Classic Garrett continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/12/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Manchester, NH Garrett is a tall/projectable (6'1"/140) RHH 3B who graduates in 2024. With the bat, this righty displays a square setup with a good hand load. He takes a hack at pitches he likes, barrels the ball up and has some pop to his pull-side. More power is in the tank with increased bat speed and more lower 1/2 drive. At 3B, he works hard into a square fielding position behind the GB. He gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw, working in-line toward 1B. Working in a more athletic/lower (from the ground-up) fielding position will help to improve his skills at 3B. Only a 2024 grad - Garrett still has a ton of time to develop his skills to get to where he wants to be.

12/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Garrett is a long, lean, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Garrett has efficient footwork, he covers ground, and makes plays. He works the double play well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with solid direction across the diamond. On the mound, Garrett has a deceptive delivery, good size, and he competes well in the zone. At the plate, Garrett has a tall set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He swings on plane, makes square contact, and he can spray the ball to all fields. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
