01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Garrett showed well both offensively and defensively during his time at the UA Preseason. At the plate, Garrett has an open set-up, good balance, and a level swing. He has fast bat speed, he swings in good rhythm, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. In the INF, Garrett showed sure hands, fluid feet, and he fields athletically. He works around the ball well, takes proper angles, and throws with carry and consistency to his target.

07/08/2012 - 2012 Team One West Showcase Garrett is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2013. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.88 60 time. Feet are quick / aggressive as he works to get around balls and plays through well and presents his sure / clean hands well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate, flashing carry across the diamond. At the plate, Giovannelli shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a short / direct path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Swing path is level with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. Garrett has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
