01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Garrett continues to shine on the diamond. This powerful RHH backstop continues to shine. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.84 range. He will control the running game with his quick feet and arm. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (96 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both be-hind the dish as well as with the bat. He has the makings of a solid 2019 draft prospect.

10/18/2017 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Garrett is a strong, powerful prospect with impressive skills and big-time athleticism. His cannon for an arm is his calling card, as he routinely cuts down base stealers with sub-2 second pop times. He is a defensive specialist with active feet and agile movements to block everything and receive well for his pitchers. His athleticism and soft hands work well to get around pitches to stick strikes and drop quickly to block. At the plate, he shows middle-of-the-order potential with barrel feel and a powerful swing to hit for power. He has a balanced swing with great bat speed on a level, direct path to crush to the ball (92mph exit velo) gap to gap. Garrett is a stud prospect who will definitely be making noise for the next level very soon.

05/21/2017 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Garrett continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.23 runner. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.84 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Garrett has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/09/2016 - College PREP - Austin, TX Garrett is an athletic, muscular catching prospect. He has serious power at the dish with the ability to drive the ball over the wall, and he should add even more pop as he continues to grow. Behind the plate, this prospect shows his athleticism to receive and block with fluid footwork and quick movements. He is quick to block, creating good angles and gains ground to receive with firm wrists. Working on staying quiet to receive will help him present pitches better and earn more strikes for his pitchers. At the dish, this power hitter has a short, direct path to the ball with excellent barrel accuracy to make consistent, hard contact. He lets the ball travel and explodes through the zone with lightening quick hands to drive the ball. Garrett is a very exciting prospect with plenty of time to get even better and we expect to see him playing at the next level.

08/08/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Garrett is a well-built catching prospect who works hard on the field and has a high baseball IQ. He is a very good receiver behind the plate, working around the ball with soft hands to get extra strikes called. He has a wide base and sets up low to be quick to block and uses efficient footwork to cover ground back there. He has a strong arm with on line carry to his target and follows through to throw out his share of baserunners. At the plate, he has a strong setup and uses his lower half well to generate power. He makes consistent, hard contact with good barrel accuracy to hit gap to gap with some pop. Shortening his swing will lead to more contact and base hits will follow. Garrett is an exciting young prospect with a bright future in the game.

05/22/2016 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Garrett is a solid 2-way player who continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this strong righty has a balanced setup and remains selective waiting for his pitch. He has rhythm to load, connects with strength and creates extension through contact. Behind the dish, he is quick laterally and bodies up pitches in the dirt centering them off of his chest. Transfer/exchange is quick as he puts throws on the 2B bag - pop times of 2.09. On the mound, Garrett works the zone with a 3-pitch mix. FB now tops out at 74 mph while showing slight run. Changeup shows some depth as he works to keep it down in the zone. Getting to a taller balance point and driving downhill off of the rubber toward the dish will help to get more into his FB. A 2019 grad - Garrett has a ton of upside and will make things happen on the diamond.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Garrett shwoed as a C/RHP at the Pirate City National World Series with Baseball Factory. At the plate, he had good balance, generated decent bat speed, and got extended out in front through contact. He has a projectable frame and worked to boost lower half drive for hand/hip coordination. Behind the plate, he sat and presented a good frame and gets the job done. He worked to soften his hands, and make them more sure with strength in his wrists. On the hill, he threw his FB from 65-71, and gathered himself over the rubber to initiate his delivery. He works fast and has a good tempo pitch to pitch. In all - Garrett has a strong frame and projects as he continues to work and get physically stronger.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
