Official Scouting Report

  • 6Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Garrett is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. At SS, Garret has good footwork and makes the routine play. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, present a low/early glove, and work from the ground up. Continuing to anticipate the ball off the bat and improving his first step to the ball will improve his overall range as well. At the plate, Garret starts in an athletic stance, starts his hands in a low position, and is aggressive to the ball. He needs to continue to keep a quiet head, load his hands back into the drive position, and attack the inside part of the ball. Widening out his stance, and creating backside drive with his lower half will help him stay balanced throughout the swing. On the bump, Garret creates tail on his fastball, he has a medium break on his curveball, and gets his change up to run down in the zone. Gathering over the rubber, separating on time, and riding his back leg toward the plate will allow him to work north to south in his delivery. Garret is eager to learn and will continue to improve with experience.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
