09/13/2015 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI
Garrett is a big, thick RHP/3B that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level but has an upside on the mound. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through an aggressive approach and works through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing works and shows plus barrel accuracy as he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. At 3B, feet are active / aggressive as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying soft / sure hands well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he works to improve backhand and increases foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 83 mph. Fastball shows a range of 76-83 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward action. He throws a slider that shows potential as being a quality pitch, displaying tight spin and late bite. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Garrett has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.
