01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Garrett is one the most quick-twitch and explosive players in the country, regardless of grad year. We've had him at 6.40 in the 60 (he ran 6.45 at this event) and he broad jumped a jaw-dropping 10 feet. Combine that athleticism with a 6'2”/195-pound frame and the ability to find the barrel from the left side and you have a special talent. Garrett is one of the rare prospects who projects to stay in the middle of the diamond, has an advanced hit tool and can impact the game on both sides of the ball with useable speed. This UCLA commit continues to open eyes and will be on the biggest stage in July when he plays in the Under Armour All-America Game.

09/26/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Mitchell stands a well-proportioned 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, and posted an impressive 6.40 in the 60 yard dash - good enough for the top run time we've seen from the 2017 class as of the Futures West event. His left-handed stroke was short and strong, and the ball came off his bat with standout life. He produced mostly hard line drives with backspin to carry through both gaps. He stood in well against quality stuff from LHP for a triple to the LCF gap. Defensively, he featured easy actions along with a very strong arm capable of carrying throws on a strong line to the plate. Overall, an exciting combination of speed and left-handed hitting ability with the ability to produce for extra power and drive in runs.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
