Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

02/21/2021 - All-In Membership - Pensacola, FL Garrett is a 2021 RHP out of Walker, LA. On the bump, delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. Lower half works well through the swing and he makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side.

12/28/2020 - Winter Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Garrett is a RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the bump, he battled with a 73 mph fastball that was consistently down in the zone making it very hard to hit. He shows a good mound presence and and has a gamer mentality, not letting much affect him when he toes the rubber. As he starts to develop his secondary pitches we feel he is in a great place with the CB/CH mix he displays now. The reason we are confident of this is his squared approach to the rubber and short arm, making his process easily repeatable. Not only did he get it done on the mound, but he also swung the bat well. This RHH showed controlled rhythm, a firm front leg, and an on-plane barrel that led to his gap-to-gap performance. Powered by line drives and a contact first approach, he proved to be a tough out. This projectable righty has a solid skill-set with upside and time to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
