01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Garrett is a young, projectable right handed pitcher who showed very well at the Under Armour All America Pre-Season Tournament. The tall, lean 2014 grad commanded three pitches and worked aggressively in and down in the zone. Fastball has life and arm side run, and his threw his curve ball for strikes and showed the ability to back-door it as well. Top half rotates a bit early in the delivery, so he falls off occasionally. Knows how to mix pitches and made adjustments throughout inning to inning. His off speed stuff is above average and his fastball got better as his outing went on. Projects to be a very nice college arm.
12/02/2012 - National Tryout - Pensacola, FL
In Garrett's most recent Baseball Factory outing, he showed increased ability in all categories. On the mound, he hit 88 MPH with hard action on his fastball, and threw all three of his pitches for strikes. His delivery was clean/easy and very repeatable. His 11/5 curve-ball has tight rotation and has power action, however, his change-up is his best off-speed pitch, looking nearly identical to his fastball out of the hand with arm side run/sink and a velo of 77-78 MPH. As Garrett continues to progress and improve, he needs to become obsessed with mechanical details and become as repeatable/clean as possible. Offensively, Garrett has a tall/open setup, fast bat speed, squares contact, flashes pop, and has a level swing path. His actions are loud, and he has a tendency to stay open and over stride. In all, Garrett will graduate in 2014, and has another year to strengthen his arm and become as clean as possible mechanically, to impress college coaches around the nation.
02/05/2012 - College PREP - Mobile, AL
Garrett is a young RHP with a solid pitcher's frame that will graduate in 2014. Delivery is sound / repeatable through a strong balance point that allows his quick arm action to work free to the plate. Tempo is quick with baseball coming out of his hands well. Fastball shows a range of 79-88 mph with slight arm side run. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a great feel for pitch with sink / fading action. Breaking ball displays tight spin 11/5 shape and shows potential when he stays on top of pitch. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Peek has an upside on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities.
