12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Garrett is a tall and broad 1B that will graduate in 2020. At, 1B Garrett shows athletic and relaxed movements as he works to the ball with active and effective footwork fielding and around the bag. He fields the ball athletic and on time presenting a firm glove as he fields. His exchanges are clean as he creates momentum to the target getting rid of the ball with a loose arm action. His throws around the diamond are accurate with good backspin. At the plate, Garrett sets up square with high hands and shows good rhythm taking a square stride. He gets his lower half through and gets on plane with the pitch making strong contact. He shows a solid approach working the ball gap to gap. Working on his agility and athleticism will allow Garrett to be a better fielder and use his power better at the plate. Garrett works hard and will continue to improve his game.

12/01/2019 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Garrett is a solid, strong 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft, sure, as he presents out front and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Garrett has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
