01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Garrett is a strong OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Garrett takes a good first step and is aggressive attacking the ball. He gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and drives through well with his lower half. He gets good extension and shows plus barrel control, leading to solid contact to all fields. On the mound, Garrett starts with a simple rock step and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Garrett shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 60-63mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 60-63mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. With three more years to develop, Garrett has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Garrett continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. Fastball shows a range of 60-63 mph with sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

11/05/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Hillsboro, OR Garrett is an athletic, OF/RHP with an advanced skill set. Defensively in the OF, he gets into a good ready position and hustles hard laterally as he tracks down fly balls. He makes solid reads off the bat and fires throws with loose arm action. On the hill, this RHP has a 2-pitch mix and keeps his eyes locked in. He delivers from a 3/4 arm slot and commands his CH that runs down in the zone. At the plate, Garrett is a pull hitter. He takes hard hacks and looks to power up on pitches thrown high in the zone. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick 1st step
2. Work behind on fly balls
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Use more lower 1/2
2. Stride-balance
3. Finish with balance
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
