06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Garrett is a lanky, athletic SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.18. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows smooth actions and moves well laterally, flashing range. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Throws are accurate with on line carry across the diamond. At the plate he shows well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 12 with 2 2B and 3B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 80-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. Control is a solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and develops another off speed pitch. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Garrett has the makings of a special type player, possibly as a two-way guy.
