Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Garrett is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training & Competition in Arizona. On the mound, Garrett is controlled gathering to his balance point and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate. Garrett shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 58mph with 1-7 break. Keeping his eyes on target throughout his motion can help Garrett improve his pitch command. In the field, Garrett shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and creates good carry through his target. Garrett can make more plays by working on his pre-pitch positioning. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He works through a level swing and shows strong barrel control, producing solid gap to gap pop. Working on a smoother rhythm can help Garrett create more consistent contact. Overall, Garrett is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/02/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Garrett is a (5'7"/130) LHP who has a 3-pitch mix. On the mound, he maintains good tempo, works to a controlled balance point and fires from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose/free arm action. FB ranges from 65-67 mph as he commands it well. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape - 53-56 mph. He throws strikes and is around the zone with all of his pitches. Continuing to increase his arm strength (long toss) will help to improve overall effectiveness on the mound. As a hitter, the has an athletic stance with rhythm to load. He takes a hack, creates extension through contact and has the ability to drive the ball the other way. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path while engaging his lower 1/2 more will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Only a 2023 grad - Weberg has tools with still time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
