07/09/2013 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Garrett continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. In the OF, feet are quick / athletic as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through well. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength throw a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more and use his lower half more through the swing.

12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Zander continues to show solid abilities in the OF. In the OF, he works to get behind the fly-ball and into a good fielding position. He makes consistently accurate throws to his target. Increase in arm strength will help benefit his OF play. As a hitter, Garrett puts the ball in play and puts pressure on the defense. More load will help to increase power. He showed good patience at the plate as he drew 4 walks. Garrett is a hard worker and will only continue to improve.

10/28/2012 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Garrett is a thin, athletic OF who will graduate in 2014. Defensively, Garrett has sure hands, active feet, and he is aggressive to the ball. He takes proper angles, stays behind well, and throws with some carry to his target. A quicker 1st step and finishing his throws will improve defense. Offensively, Garrett has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes square contact, gets through the ball, and he uses his lower 1/2. A better load and improved rhythm can spike hitting grades.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
