06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Garrison continues to show a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, this lefty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB jumps out of his hand and shows some sinking action - 81 mph. Changeup is solid as he throws it with smooth FB arm speed - helping to create deception. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to all gaps. At 1B, he has plus lateral range for a big guy, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. Garrison has the tools that will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

07/22/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Armstrong showed very well during his time at the UASW-16U Tournament. An athletic/versatile player who has a plus all-around skill-set, he steps onto the field with a purpose. At the plate, he has a relaxed approach with quiet/simple actions. He has good zone awareness and waits for his pitch (drew 4 walks at the event). Swing path is consistent as he connects with pop, engaging his lower 1/2 and crushing the baseball. In the OF, Garrison has the ability to play all 3 spots. Footwork is quick with plus lateral range. He comes to get the GB, works through it fluidly and gains ground toward his target. On the mound, this strike thrower pounds the zone with his FB & CB. Strong glove side lead helps him to stay directional toward the dish as he finishes complete. He repeats his delivery well and mixes his pitches. Garrison has worked very had and molded himself into a solid prospect that will get a ton of looks over the next couple of years.

07/20/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Garrison showed well during his time at the T1 West showcase. In the OF, he covers ground laterally working lightly on the balls of his feet. Transfer/exchange is clean/smooth as he gains ground toward his target. At the plate, this lefty has a balanced setup with relaxed/quiet actions. Quick hands fire the barrel on a short/direct path as he connects with pop, driving it to all parts of the field. On the mound, Armstrong has fluid/easy mechanics and repeats well. He fills up the strike zone, works the ball to the corner and competes with hitters. Slider has effective 2/8 shape showing to be solid out pitch. Garrison is a versatile player who shines in many aspects of his game.

05/31/2015 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Armstrong continues to show well on the diamond. With the bat, this strong lefty remains selective waiting to jump on his pitch. He connects with strength, showing pop off of his barrel to all parts of the field. In the OF, Garrison hustles into position behind the fly-ball. He plays through the GB well with a clean exchange to throw. Gaining more ground with a more aggressive crow-hop will help to improve his abilities in the OF. On the bump, Garrison repeats his mechanics well. FB now tops out at 78 mph while showing gradual tail. Working to drive more off of the rubber will help to get more into and add more velocity to his FB. A 6'1"/200 2-way player - Garrison is a talented prospect who has a bright future ahead of him.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Garrison showed strength in competition at the Omaha National World Series with Baseball Factory. Defensively in the OF, he had good pre-pitch footwork that allowed him to get good jumps on the ball. He worked behind and through with good angles and had long accurate arm action to throw with carry. More reads to become more consistent with his jumps will increase play. Offensively, he showed some gap pop with good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He was coordinated with his hips/hands and showed good feel to hit. Staying patient and keeping his head under control will increase contact frequency. On the mound, he throws three pitches form the 3/4 arm slot with good feel. He has fluid arm action and smooth mechanics, pounding the zone with his pitches. He should work on mixing in his secondary pitches and should become more consist with the CH. Overall - Garrison is a very hardworking kid that hustles on and off the field and makes adjustments on the fly.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Armstrong continues to show as a LHP/OF but currently projects best in the OF for the next level where he has improved the most. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing outstanding hitting / power grades through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a solid feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength, throws more strikes.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Garrison is a strong and athletic young man with a good upside. On the mound he displayed good arm action, delivery, sound mechanics and the fastball has late run. He needs to be more consistent with the curveball, do not over rotate, and stay in-line to the target . As a first baseman Garrison moves well around the bag, hands are sound and he is athletic. At the plate Garrison showed good potential with his athleticism and strength. Stride/load, lower half, balance and rhythm are all good but he needs to stay inside the ball, use the whole field and let the ball travel into the proper hitting zone.

03/03/2013 - College PREP - Austin, TX Garrison is a young L/L, LHP/1B that continues to show improvements in his game from each Factory outing. On the mound, he has a smooth tempo with easy arm action, while staying in line to the dish, and finishing athletically. Most importantly, Garrison throws a lot of fastball strikes and has an ability to change speeds. Defensively at first, he has active feet and a clean/quick exchange. His bag awareness is above average for his age, but his lateral movement could improve. At the dish, he has a short swing path, direct hands, and is patient - hitting the ball well up the middle and oppo. Utilizing his lower half more fully, and extending through the ball at contact will allow for greater power and hit ability. In all, we enjoy tracking Garrison's progress, and believe he will be a strong prospect when his time comes in 2017.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Garrison Armstrong is a tall and athletic 2017 graduate who pitches and plays 1st base. In the infield Garrison has soft/sure/clean hands with a quick exchange. He has efficient/fluid footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He showed playable range and works well around the bag at 1st. At the plate he has an athletic and open stance with a smooth load and small leg kick. He has strong balance and has a short and compact swing. On the mound he throws a nice fastball with late sink in the zone. His curve has a 1/7 shape and he commands both pitches and throws them for strikes giving him a nice mix. He gets good extension and has good control on the mound. Garrison had a great camp and showed a lot of ability in the field and on the mound and will only get better with experience.

04/01/2012 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Garrison is a big, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Garrison has a long arm action, on-time separation, and he works in good rhythm. He works to his balance point well, has good direction toward home, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At 1B, Garrison has soft hands, fluid feet, and he fields in a low / athletic position. He takes good angles to the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long / loose arm action with life to his target. Offensively, Garrison has a tall / open stance, a short / square stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, he makes hard contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. More lower body use
2. Land on ball of foot
3. Long toss
Defense
1. Glove angle
2. Backhand
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Stay on ball
3. Level off swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
