12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Gary is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect that worked hard week. At 1B, Gary is on time with his prep step, he works off the bag well, and makes the routine play. He is very coachable and made an adjustment to present a low/early glove during his prep step. He needs to continue to field the ball in front of his body and line his shoulders up with his target when throwing. At the plate, Gary starts in a tall stance and takes aggressive hacks on the fastball early in counts. He needs to continue to load his hands back, get to balance with his lower half on time, and rotate his backside. On the bump, Gary has feel for his change up. Continuing to find a balance point, separating on time, and riding his back leg down hill will improve his fastball command. Gary is an over all good athlete and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
