01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Gary continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting/power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 77-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Gary has a bright future ahead of himself and we look forward to seeing what it holds.

12/20/2020 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Gary is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Christmas Camp & Tournament. In the field, Gary moves light on his feet with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an open setup. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and strong line drives. On the mound, Gary gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Gary shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 70mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Gary is a talented prospect who has the skill set to perform at the next level.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Gary is a talented and athletic 2021 SS prospect. At SS, Gary is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and creates good angles to the ball. He has smooth hands, a clean exchange, and makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Gary has comfortable hands, gets to balance with his lower half and swings with intent to do damage early in counts. He attacks the inside part of the ball and looks to hit the ball to all fields. Gary is a competitor and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Gary continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. In the MIF, he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Athletic abilities are present through his feeds / turn of the double play. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. Hands feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Gary continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.00. At the plate, hitting power potential is now outstanding through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He makes all the plays and shows big play potential in the MIF. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/09/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Morgantown, WV Gary is an athletic SS/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Gary shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. In the OF, Gary shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, getting good carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with explosive bat speed which leads to loud contact and line drives to all fields. Gary continues to make improvements on the diamond and should find success in this, his sophomore season.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Gary is a talented SS/OF prospect who has an athletic build. Offensively, Gary has a tall, open setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride. Gary shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path producing square contact. He gets good rotation in his swing while staying balanced. Gary has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Gary plays with active footwork and agile actions showing good range in each direction laterally. He fields the ball in a low position and shows a smooth backhand when needed. Gary plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target. He has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are online with good accuracy. Overall, Gary has skill on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

03/25/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Gary is an athletic and talented 2021 SS/OF prospect. At SS, Gary has an active prep step and presents a low/early glove. He works from the ground up and has good footwork off the bag on double plays. In the OF, Gary has a quick first step and gets good reads off the bat. He works behind the ball and makes accurate throws to the bases. At the plate, Gary starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He attacks the ball with his lower half and stays balanced through contact. Gary will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Gary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.16. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Gary is a strong and athletic player that can play multiple positions. As a catcher, Gary gets into a good primary/secondary stance, anticipates balls in the dirt, and works the outside part of the ball while receiving. He needs to continue to be loose, present a big /low target, block the ball with his chest, and create momentum on his throws while shortening up his first step. At the plate, Gary had 4 quality hits, driving the ball with power to all fields. He has to continue to work on being in an athletic stance, stay short to the ball, and use his lower half. Creating more rhythm in his hands will increase fluidity in his swing. Gary has good speed on the base path and a high baseball IQ. We hope to see his progress over the next few years.

08/04/2016 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Gary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.39 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. He is a vocal leader on the field. Mental makeup is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Gary has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

11/12/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Gary proved to be a coachable player who hustles in all elements of his game. Defensively his most notable improvements were his arm strength and exchange, recording pop times between 2.5-2.9 seconds. Gary can continue to focus on his blocking technique making sure he leads with his glove and trusts his chest to do the work. Offensively, he displayed strong hands with a knack for the barrel. Balance is solid with bat speed that stands out for his age. Hitting grades will improve as Gary starts to get a better feel for his lower half getting engaged in his swing. This will incorporate more of his body and increase future power. Overall, Gary has bright foundation that shows room for growth as he continues to improve his fundamentals.

06/16/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Charleston, WV Gary is a young (2021 grad) 2-way player as a C/SS. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a square setup with good balance. Barrel delivery is level as he connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. At SS, he has active footwork and hustles into a square fielding position. He makes the plays and has a clean exchange to throw. Behind the dish, he tracks pitches into his mitt and sticks them. On throws down to 2B he gains ground with a clean exchange to throw (pop times of 3.50). Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
