Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Gavin is a gritty and max effort type player who showed his skills as a right handed hitting 3rd baseman and RHP. Offensively, he showed smooth rhythm and good balance throughout his swing, along with solid hip rotation after contact. To avoid dropping his hands and getting under the ball, working to load his hands into a higher position will help with contact and power at the plate. At 3rd base, he attacked ground balls aggressively, using active footwork and centered balance. Fielding with lower hips will help him present his hands more out in front. Also a pitcher, he featured 2 pitches from a high 3/4 arm angle, including a mid 60's fastball and a curveball which sat in the mid 50's and showed 11-5 movement. Overall, Gavin is a solid player, who's enthusiasm and passion for the game will carry him a long way towards being the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
