07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Gavin is a 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate high school in 2022. Medium frame thick build, with strength present, and plenty of room to add more strength throughout. At 1B, he starts with active/efficient feet and takes aggressive angles to baseball. Creates good angles glove side, with good glove actions, and fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Quick arm action into a 3/4 release point with consistent throws to second base. Showed good footwork around bag. On the mound, incorporates his lower half well and has a deceptive delivery. Works with good direction and is balanced at release. Keeps ball down and showed plus command on all of his pitches. Throws a FB that sits 71-73mph with good arm side run. Mixes in an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with good depth through the strike zone and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed and arm side run. CH was his best pitch during his bullpen. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an athletic and square stance. Short/square glide step, with quick hands, and ability to keep hands inside the baseball. Direct barrel path with ability to stay long and through the baseball. Squared up baseballs into both gaps and a bat exit velocity of 82mph during his round of BP. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

07/04/2021 - Baseball Factory Firecracker Classic 18U Gavin continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. At the plate, hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (88 mph velocity) on his throws.

02/13/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Gavin Prichard is a 2022 1B/RHP. Medium physical build with present strength. Primary first baseman, stays in front of the ball well and fields out in front. Moves fluidly off the bag and flashes accurate arm to all bags. Secondary right-handed pitcher, has a shorter sweeping arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Fast ball has arm side run and a 10/4 shaped slider with tilt. 3 pitch mix with good feel for the zone. Right-handed hitter, uses a square and athletic stance. Stays balanced through the ball and has ability to make consistent contact pull side. Has a bright future at the next level with continued development and growth.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Gavin continues to shine on the field. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will as he utilizes his lower half efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 71-73 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Gavin is a RHP/1B prospect that will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Gavin shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH, The FB shows some cut, the breaking ball is 10-4 action, and the CH shows some sink with deceptive FB arm speed. He shows confidence on the mound as he starts, getting a relaxed leg lift and separating on time with a clean arm action. He works hard to keep his direction going towards the plate and gets good extension to finish. In the field he shows an athletic ready position with effective footwork. As he ranges to the ball, he works hard to get into a good fielding position making clean exchanges. He shows the ability to consistently make the routine play. Hitting, Gavin sets up in a closed stance with comfortable hands getting a simple load with a short stride getting his foot down on time. He keeps his balanced centered as he gets the barrel on plane showing pop to the pull side. Getting a good weight training and conditioning program will allow Gavin to improve as a RHP/1B. Gavin shows a plus attitude and a great work ethic.

12/28/2018 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Gavin is a RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Gavin works with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 59-60mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 61mph. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Gavin improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He drives through with his lower half and produces loud contact. Gavin can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With three more years to develop, Gavin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
