08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Gavin is a coachable C prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Gavin sits in an athletic stance and presents a low target to the pitcher. He throws from over top to 2B and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to the bag. Gavin can improve defensively by quickening his lateral range to block. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load well and drives through with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact to all fields. Gavin can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With three more years to develop, Gavin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
05/20/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD
Gavin is a lean, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed a range of 2.19-2.37 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he is a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work to and through the baseball, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Gavin has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.
