05/28/2011 - Little League® Experience Gavin did a great job at the Little League Experience. Was extremely coachable and worked hard to make adjustments. One thing we really liked about him was his toughness, battled through a knee injury on the last day and blasted a double. At the plate Gavin has a balanced, athletic set up. He takes a short stride and has a very limited load. Would like to see him develop an improved load mechanism so that he can generate more batspeed and power. He takes a short direct stride and remains centered with his balance. Will need to be more aggressive with his lower half. Has a tendency to rotate his lower half, half way. This cuts of his swing and does not allow him to finish and negatively affects his contact. Would like to see him finish his lower half rotation so that he can maximize his power potential and barrel accuracy. In the infield Gavin reaches a decent fielding position but will need to make sure that he is presenting his hands out front and getting the glove all the way to the ground. Takes a sound approach and worked around the ball. Will need to continue to work on his quickness and agility and smooth out his footwork. At present footwork is playable but improved agility will smooth him out and increase his range. Gavin is a very coachable young man with good passion for the game.
