01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Gavin is a solid pitching prospect in the 2023 class. On the mound, he displays confidence in his pitching ability and can find the zone. He gathers over the rubber well and has a clean arm circle with a ¾ release point. Stays directional and has a fluid finish over his front knee. His FB pounded the zone and topped at 82 with slight tailing actions. His CB sat 66-71 and his slider mixed in well and 71-74. Both blended well and can keep hitters off balance. His CH ranged from 72-74 and had deception by using FB arm speed. Gavin can shorten his stride at times to gain a more downward trajectory and locate in the bottom of the zone. Overall, Gavin showed well at the FL Preseason All-American event and scouts took notice.

08/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Gavin is a young 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, Gavin stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a clean arm circle, and he keeps his eyes on target. He works on a downhill plane, has good direction toward home, and lands in a square position. At 3B, Gavin has an aggressive approach to the ball, he fields in a square/athletic position, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. At the plate, Gavin has a tall set-up, good balance, and decent bat speed. He has some pop in his bat, can work it gap to gap, and he uses some lower body. Gavin will need to work on the following in order for skills to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
