10/24/2012 - Arizona Freshman/Sophmore Fall Classic In Gavin's first Baseball Factory event he showed his situational awareness and excellent attitude and coach-ability. Defensively, the 2015 outfielder played behind and through balls, keeping his glove positioning high, covering ground and throwing with carry to his target. Despite his small frame, Gavin's athleticism and ability to utilize his momentum and lower half in the outfield made his average arm play better. Offensively, his hands were close to his body with good separation and good extension through contact. His head was controlled and he did a nice job of delivering the barrel. Keeping some rhythm in his load, leveling his shoulder plane and fully utilizing his lower half will help Gavin hit more hard ground balls and line-drives. Gavin showed his unselfishness and even volunteered to come in and pitch a couple of innings with almost no notice or bullpen time, and was able to throw strikes and get outs. Overall, we believe Gavin did a nice job and has the time and the passion/drive to get better and succeed in this game.
