Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) George continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with a HR. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City George is a left handed hitting OF and LHP who will graduate in 2020. Intangibly, he showed tremendous focus and competitiveness on the field, as he was always asking good questions and showing an interest in bettering himself as a player. Defensively, he made correct reads off the bat, as he did a fine job of working around the ball and creating good angles. Arm worked well for the position, as he made accurate throws consistently. Offensively, he showed a passively aggressive approach to hitting along with some pop to both gaps. Rhythm and balance were smooth and his hands worked directly to the ball. On the mound, he showed a 3 pitch mix from an over the top arm angle, including a 67-68 mph fastball, a mid 50's curveball which showed some 1-7 movement and a deceptive changeup, which sat in the high 50's, and was his best out pitch. Overall, George is a passionate player, who shows upside on both sides of the ball and will be exciting to track as he continues to progress in this game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
