01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament George continues to show as a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with powering best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) George continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.99. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball shows a range of 69-73 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and through strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/25/2017 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One George is a player who has improved since we last saw him in multiple areas on the field. He has added a tick to his fastball which will allow it to play up and help his other pitches as well. He has a loose, clean arm stroke that allows him to extend through his release and make the ball jump on hitters. He picks up the target early and works in line to the plate to show control of each of his three offerings. At the plate, he is aggressive hunting a pitch to drive with a strong lower half that generates pop. He stays balanced throughout his swing to adjust to any pitch and use all fields and make consistent, hard contact. At first, he works well around the bag to make efficient throwing angles and to pick balls in the dirt. He uses two hands and presents his glove out front to make plays cleanly and keep everything in front. George is a versatile, talented player who we expect to keep improving.

06/25/2017 - College PREP - Seattle, WA George is a tall, solid 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.19. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. At the plate, he shows a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with sweeping action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, George has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
